Studio
– a Moment between body and clothes

Merja Hannikainen and Vappu Jalonen set up a studio in the Process space of The Finnish Museum of Photography. More than 40 participants designed and constructed temporary clothes for themselves out of a pile of fabrics, and were then photographed. The dressing and photographing combined participants’ ways of expressing themselves with Hannikainen’s and Jalonen’s interest in various body performances.

Exhibition is open:
June 1–August 26 2012
(Exhibition only open at weekends June 4–22)
Tue–Sun 11–18, Wed 11–20

Studio’s partner in collaboration is the cultural accessibility project Utopia Helsinki.

Supporters Angel Films and Color-Kolmio.

Studio, Berlin 2011

During one weekend in March 2011, Galerie Suvi Lehtinen transformed into a dressing room and a photography studio. We took photographs of 25 people wearing self-designed, temporary clothes. Spontaneously and quick, the participants constructed something to wear out of a pile of fabrics. The set for the shooting was put together of recycled wood material.

We want to thank everyone who participated, it was a lot of fun!
